The economic planning of a public broadcaster was previously carried out using numerous Excel spreadsheets. Investment projects were recorded, calculated and coordinated between departments and planning on a decentralized basis – a process with a high level of manual effort, several coordination loops and a corresponding risk of errors.
The customer initiated a development project for a modern SaaS solution in order to make planning fit for the future. sommer + spohr supported the project from January 2024 with process analysis, requirements management and project management until the successful go-live in November 2025.
The central use cases were defined in joint stakeholder workshops and the functional and technical requirements were developed. The implementation was carried out by Logikwerk, which developed the application in an agile manner together with the project team. The solution went live on schedule at the beginning of November 2025.
Today, all investment projects are managed centrally in a database – including strategic relevance, triggers and financial and personnel requirements over the entire planning period. The data can be exported to Power BI via interfaces and analyzed there in aggregated form. This creates greater transparency and enables more informed and efficient investment decisions.
Due to the success of the project, sommer + spohr was also commissioned to oversee its further development. The follow-up project has been running since spring 2026 and is scheduled to go live in November 2026.
