Trimedial newsroom system
As part of its trimedial strategy, BR has fundamentally improved cooperation between television, radio and online. At the same time, BR pursued the goal of sustainably reducing the operational costs and expenses for the previously three separate editorial systems and establishing a centralized system.
Against this background, sommer + spohr took over the overall project management for this project. In particular, the team overcame the challenges of demanding and extensive requirements management and the development of a high-performance and highly available platform for the central system. sommer + spohr developed and implemented tailor-made procedures for both aspects.
The new solution went live on schedule and impressed right from the start with its significantly higher stability and performance compared to the previous individual systems. By involving user representatives from television, radio and online at an early stage and on an ongoing basis, the project team created the ideal conditions for gradual training and a successful rollout in all areas.
sommer + spohr moderated a one-day stakeholder workshop with around 40 participants for a structured requirements survey. Within this framework, the participants worked out the requirements both in groups and in plenary sessions. In addition, sommer + spohr provided an innovative web collaboration tool with which the requirements were recorded, consolidated and prepared in the form of user stories. The tool ensured complete traceability of all changes and enabled efficient collaboration through distributed and parallel work.
After a project duration of just two months, BR now has a comprehensive backlog, knows the key enthusiasm factors and can plan the further project implementation in a targeted and needs-oriented manner.
