Introduction of a customized project approach at the ARD broadcasting center based on SCRUM
The ARD broadcasting center was faced with the challenge of automatically transporting incoming material to the respective ARD media library in order to be able to publish it there. The necessary adjustments to software components and interfaces had to be made directly in the production system.
For the timely control and monitoring of the software adaptations, sommer + spohr created a customized agile concept based on SCRUM, which was implemented in the project with the support of the software tool Jira. In addition, sommer + spohr helped with the introduction of a test management system based on Jira. The aim is to carry out user-oriented test cases and ensure functioning workflows.
The ARD broadcasting center is now in a position to use and further develop the designed procedure as a standard in other projects. The user-oriented test cases developed, including the procedure, can also be used for any changes to the existing system/infrastructure to check and ensure the functionality under consideration.
We brought everyone involved together and collected the functional and technical requirements in several workshops. These were then consolidated and prioritized together with the customer’s project team.
With this preliminary work, the customer was able to find a suitable manufacturer and then move on to the implementation phase.
Kilian Bachmeier, system administrator at ARD-Sternpunkt and project manager of the File2VoD project:
“Thanks to sommer + spohr, we are one step ahead when it comes to agile methods and Scrum. Thanks to the support we received, we were able to make a practical transition from the classic project business to an agile approach. The implementation of professional test management was also important in the project and will help us in future projects. Working with a helpful and friendly team was an enrichment.”
