Introduction of a new traffic editorial system

With the planned changeover of the TMC standard to TPEG throughout Germany, it was necessary for BR to replace its existing traffic information system with a TPEG-capable one in order to ensure its future viability.
BR commissioned sommer + spohr to support the entire project from the tendering process through to go-live. Our most important tasks included

• Recording of requirements including preparation of the bill of quantities and the evaluation matrices
• Moderation of negotiations with the manufacturers
• Project management and leadership of the internal project group and the selected manufacturer
• Protection requirements analysis and creation of a security concept
• Support negotiations with all parties involved and creation of a comprehensive support concept

BR now has an open and web-based solution that optimally supports the technical workflows of the traffic editors. In addition, an important operational requirement has been met – the externalization of operations. This means that BR now has the first broadcast-critical and externally operated application in ARD.
